30-Foot Sewer Line Repair Leaves Customer with Zero Out of Pocket Costs

30-Foot Sewer Line Repair Leaves Customer with Zero Out of Pocket Costs

Hannah of Charlotte, North Carolina noticed her ground floor bathroom sink producing small bubbles.

“I heard a weird sound, and didn’t like the look of the bubbles when I spotted them because no soap or water had been in the sink for some time,” said Hannah said. “My first thought was that there was a problem with the plumbing system inside of our home.”

Unfortunately, Hannah’s first inclination wasn’t the answer. After calling a local plumber, he determined that it was most likely her exterior sewer line that was backing up into the sink – and wouldn’t be surprised if she saw other backups in other areas of her home follow.

“As soon as he left, I called HomeServe,” Hannah recalls. “We had enrolled our home in the exterior sewer and water line repair plans about a year ago or so.”

A technician from Hers & His Plumbing was dispatched to assess the situation. The first step was snaking the sewer line to gauge if that would solve the problem. After 24 hours, the backup began again, and this time, in multiple places. Hannah temporarily lost use of her home’s facilities. And after returning with a camera to get a better look down the sewer line, the technician found a 30-foot damaged portion that would need to be replaced.

“Once they were able to bring on the equipment, they needed to get the repair done, the job started,” said Hannah. “I can’t say enough positive things about the plumbers from Hers & His Plumbing – they were skilled and handled my property with care.”

“The few dollars I spend each month on these repair plans is beyond worth it to me, especially after this experience,” said Hannah. “At the end of the day, I’m so happy.”

The equipment Hannah was referring to included an excavator because of where her sewer line fell on her property. When the job was completed, the repair, including the initial snaking and diagnostics, saved her over $6,400.

Hannah first learned about repair plans offered in her area, through a partnership with HomeServe and Charlotte Water, from a friend who experienced a sewer line failure. Her friend’s advice to her was to protect herself because those types of repairs can be extremely costly, frustrating and unpredictable.

“The few dollars I spend each month on these repair plans is beyond worth it to me, especially after this experience,” said Hannah. “At the end of the day, I’m so happy.”
