ROSELLE, N.J. – May 25, 2022 - Moise P. of Roselle, New Jersey encountered a troubling issue in the basement of his home. After noticing the wall behind the boiler was water-stained and rusted, he realized the piping that connected to the boiler that heated his home starting to crack and leak. Each time his heat was turned on, water dripped all over the basement and there was noticeable steam in the air.
The husband and father of two found time in between jobs to visit his nearest hardware store to pick up do-it-yourself repair kits. However, each time he plugged a leak, a new one sprung seemingly seconds later.
"It was extremely frustrating. No matter what I did, I just couldn't get it to stop leaking," said Moise. "The pipes were old, and having to run to the store in time to beat the next inevitable leak was getting extremely stressful for my wife and I."
It was clear that this problem wasn't going away and that the pipes connecting to the boiler of the home needed to be replaced. But unfortunately, Moise and his wife knew that they wouldn't be able to afford the cost of the repair, as the family of four was living on a low single income. So, they reached out to their service provider, Elizabethtown Gas.
"HomeServe took care of everything. HomeServe is a lifesaver."
After assessing Moise's situation, they recommended he head over to the resources page on their website. There, a list of methods to request assistance was available, one of which was the HomeServe Cares Foundation. After reading further, he visited HomeServe's website and was able to fill out a form to request help from HomeServe for the needed repair. A short time later, Moise got word that although he was not a HomeServe customer, his request for assistance was approved, and the full cost of the repair would be covered by the HomeServe Cares foundation.
"We were absolutely elated to find out that HomeServe was helping us with this repair. I have no idea what we would have done without them," said Moise. "To not have to stress about the next leak is incredible for our family."
HomeServe dispatched local contractor All Year Around Plumbing , who promptly visited the home to begin the repair on the boiler distribution piping.
Within a week, the repair was completed, saving Moise and his family nearly $6,000.
