Gloria F. of Roanoke, Virginia, had some welcome company in town – her child was visiting from out of town. While heading downstairs to use the basement bathroom, they noticed water backing up from the main drain. Gloria, who rarely went down to the basement, realized the problem could have been there for a while.
As a customer of the Exterior Sewer Line Repair Plan from HomeServe, she knew exactly what to do.
“I loved the idea that help was just a phone call away,” she said. She quickly reached out, and HomeServe responded by dispatching TLI Construction Services, a trusted local contractor.
TLI started by snaking the main drain to clear what initially seemed like a blockage. This provided temporary relief, but the issue came back a few days later. Realizing it was more than a simple clog, the TLI team conducted a camera inspection. They found that part of Gloria's sewer line was crushed and beginning to collapse. To fix it, they would need to excavate a portion of the sidewalk on her property and replace 22 feet of the 45-foot sewer line.
Throughout the process, the contractor made sure Gloria understood every step of the repair.
“The plumber talked me through each step before he even did them,” Gloria said, adding that the communication made her feel comfortable and confident in the work being done.
The diagnosis and replacement, which would have cost Gloria over $5,500, was fully covered under her plan from HomeServe. Gloria appreciated the significant savings but valued the peace of mind even more.
“Oh boy…if I didn’t have this coverage, a typical call out fee for any plumber I would have had to coordinate myself would probably have exceeded the expense of this repair plan for the year,” she said.
Gloria originally learned about HomeServe through the West Virginia Water Authority and was relieved she decided to sign up.
“The greatest thing about the plan is knowing I don’t have to worry about this potentially expensive problem happening again without coverage,” she said. “HomeServe will be there for me.”
